About this Base64 encoder
Base64 is the same text written with only letters, numbers and a few signs. Hello becomes SGVsbG8=. Some sites and emails ask for that form.
The top box is your ordinary words. The bottom box is Base64. To Base64 fills the bottom box. To text fills the top box.
Anyone can turn Base64 back into words. Do not put a password here — it will not stay hidden.
Everything stays in this tab. Tick “For a web link” only if you will paste the result into an address: the signs + and / become - and _.

How to encode or decode Base64
- Paste text or Base64: There is already a short example in the top box if you want to try To Base64 first.
- Click To Base64 or To text: To Base64 fills the bottom box. To text fills the top box. Tick For a web link only if the result will go in an address.
- Copy the result: It stays in this tab. Nothing is sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text uploaded or stored?
No. Your browser does the work on this page. Close the tab and it is gone. There is no account and no copy on a server.
Is Base64 encryption? Can it hide a password?
No. It only changes how the letters look. Anyone can click To text and read them. Do not put a password here expecting it to stay secret.
What does For a web link do?
Some addresses break on + and /. With the box ticked, To Base64 writes - and _ instead. To text still reads both kinds, even if the box is off.
Why does it say this is not Base64, or not readable text?
The bottom box has a typo, or what you pasted is not Base64. Spaces are fine. If you pasted Base64 from a photo, it is not words — that is the other warning. Letters with accents and emoji in the top box are fine.
