About this volume converter
This tool converts between the U.S. customary liquid and kitchen units and the metric system. It covers the small units you meet in recipes — teaspoons, tablespoons and fluid ounces — up through cups, pints, quarts and gallons, plus milliliters and liters for science class and everyday metric use.

How many milliliters are in a cup?
One U.S. cup equals 236.588 milliliters (often rounded to 236.6 ml or 240 ml on nutrition labels). Half a cup is about 118 ml. The metric cup used in Australia and New Zealand is exactly 250 ml, so check which standard your recipe assumes.
How many ml in a fluid ounce?
One U.S. fluid ounce equals 29.5735 milliliters. Don't confuse it with an ounce of weight — a fluid ounce measures volume, while a regular ounce measures mass, and the two only match for water-like liquids.
How many liters are in a gallon?
