About this SAT score calculator
The digital SAT reports two section scores — Reading & Writing and Math — each on a 200–800 scale, for a total between 400 and 1600. This calculator converts your practice test raw scores (the number of questions you answered correctly) into those scaled scores using the official raw-score conversion table that the College Board publishes with Digital SAT Practice Test #5.
Count your correct answers in both modules of each section — up to 66 questions for Reading & Writing and up to 54 for Math — enter the two totals, and you get the score range you can expect, plus an estimated national percentile.
Because real digital tests are adaptive and every test form is equated slightly differently, exact scores vary from day to day — that is why the College Board itself publishes ranges (a lower and upper value) for paper practice tests rather than single numbers. Treat your result as "my score will most likely land in this band", and always take the official Bluebook practice tests for the closest simulation.
How digital SAT scoring works
Raw score = number of correct answers. There is no penalty for wrong or skipped answers, so never leave a question blank. The raw score is then converted to the 200–800 scale through an equating table that differs slightly per test form. On the real adaptive test, your second module's difficulty depends on your first-module performance, which is why paper scoring can only produce a range.
Example: 44 correct in Reading & Writing → 540–600 scaled. 40 correct in Math → 570–630 scaled. Estimated total: 1110–1230 (midpoint ~1170, roughly the 69th percentile).
What SAT score ranges mean

Frequently asked questions
What is a good SAT score?
The average total score for recent graduating classes is roughly 1010–1030. Around 1200 puts you near the 75th percentile and is competitive for many flagship universities; 1400+ (95th percentile) is the typical admitted-student range at highly selective schools. "Good" always depends on the colleges on your list — check each school's middle 50% range.
Is there a penalty for wrong answers on the SAT?
No. The SAT only counts correct answers, so a wrong answer costs you nothing compared to skipping. Always answer every question — with no time left, a quick guess is strictly better than blank.
Why does the calculator show a range instead of one score?
The real digital SAT is adaptive: the difficulty of your second module depends on how you did in the first, and each test form is equated separately. Paper practice scoring cannot reproduce that routing, so the College Board publishes a lower and upper bound for each raw score. Your actual score will usually land inside that band.
